Map the System

6:00 PM-9:00 PM
Brian Mulroney Hall, Room 103

This semester, students in SEST 3143: Theories of Sustainability and Change have been participating in a ‘Map the System’ pilot project.

Map the System is a global program of The Skoll Centre at Oxford University open to all universities. Working in teams, students use systems thinking and mapping tools to analyze a complex sustainability problem of their choosing. Teams are judged according to their understanding of the systems that give rise to their problem and what leverage points might contribute to system change.

Four student teams will present their work in a judged competition to be held Wednesday, April 15, beginning at 6:00 PM in BMH 103.

The team scoring the highest goes on to represent St. Thomas at the global Map the System competition held at Oxford University July 9-12, 2026.

All are welcome to attend the campus competition. It is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in taking the course next year (offered in the Winter semester) to get an idea of what’s involved.
