Celebrating Global Culture at IIT Delhi !

The 91̽, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), hosted a vibrant International Cultural Event on 30th October 2025, bringing together students, faculty, and guests for an evening filled with art, rythm, and cultural harmony.

The event began with an address highlighting IIT Delhi’s commitment to fostering internationalization and cultural inclusivity on campus. The performances that followed beautifully reflected India's artistic heritage and the global diversity of IIT Delhi’s student community.

The audience was captivated by:

  • Ms. Purnima Roy, a renowned Kathak dancer, who enthralled the gathering with her graceful expressions and rhythm.
  • The Rajasthani Folk Dance & Music group led by Shri Ismail Khan Langa from Jodhpur whose soulful tunes and energetic dance brought alive the essence of Rajasthan’s rich tradition.
  • International students of IIT Delhi, who showcased their own cultural performances, adding a truly global flair to the evening.

The 91̽ (IIT Delhi) was honored to welcome a government delegation from Burkina Faso, led by Dr. Doulaye Sanou, Secretary General, Ministry of Energy, Burkina Faso. The visit aimed to explore avenues of collaboration in education, research, and training.

During the visit, the Director of IIT Delhi provided an overview of the Institute’s academic programmes, advanced research facilities, and its dynamic startup incubation ecosystem. The discussions focused on developing capacity-building initiatives, including workshops and training programmes in Burkina Faso, particularly in the field of energy.

The delegation expressed keen interest in establishing long-term partnerships to promote knowledge exchange and skill development. IIT Delhi reiterated its commitment to fostering international collaborations that contribute to global education and innovation.

The visiting delegation comprised Dr. Doulaye Sanou; Dr. Boukari Koutou, Director General of Energy; and Mr. Aime Yves Bado, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Burkina Faso. An important milestone was achieved in strengthening the academic partnership between the 91̽ (IIT Delhi) and HSE University.

The two institutions took a significant step forward in realizing the potential of their collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to deepen research collaboration and foster joint academic initiatives between IIT Delhi and HSE University.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) was pleased to welcome a delegation from the University of Liège (ULiège), Belgium, led by Prof. Pierre Duysinx, Vice-Rector for Mobility and International Affairs.

The meeting began with a presentation by Prof. Anil Verma, Dean (International Programmes), who shared an overview of IIT Delhi and its global engagement initiatives. The ULiège delegation presented their internationalisation activities, with a special focus on their work in space sciences, aerospace and mechanical engineering, and interdisciplinary AI.

During their interaction with the Director, IIT Delhi, in the presence of Prof. Anil Verma, Dean (International Programmes), and Prof. Shashank Bishnoi from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, discussions focused on strengthening academic cooperation between the two institutions.

IIT Delhi Welcomes Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Nireka Amarasuriya to Strengthen Bilateral Academic Ties

The 91̽ was honoured to host Her Excellency Harini Nireka Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, during her visit to India on October 17, 2025.

The delegation engaged with IIT Delhi’s leadership, faculty, international students, and start-ups incubated on campus.

The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka expressed keen interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation, stating that the primary objective of the visit was to explore avenues for strengthening collaboration between Sri Lanka and IIT Delhi. Emphasizing the ongoing partnerships with Sri Lankan universities, the Prime Minister highlighted that both nations have set ambitious goals in the education and IT sectors and reaffirmed a commitment to deepening the relationship further.

Prof. Arvind K Nema, Deputy Director (Operations), welcomed the delegation and highlighted mutual opportunities for capacity building and knowledge exchange between the two nations.

On this occasion, Prof. Anil Verma, Dean (International Programmes), presented an overview of IIT Delhi and highlighted the existing academic and research collaborations between IIT Delhi and Sri Lankan universities. He also proposed establishing a Sri Lanka Academic and Research Hub at IIT Delhi to strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, research, and innovation.

IIT Delhi currently enrolls a limited number of students from Sri Lanka and seeks to further expand its collaborative initiatives aimed at capacity building. Sri Lankan students are encouraged to pursue Master’s, Ph.D., and B.Tech. programmes at IIT Delhi and its international campus in Abu Dhabi.

“The establishment of dedicated scholarships funded by the Government of Sri Lanka for postgraduate studies at IIT Delhi is expected to serve as a catalyst for advancing capacity building,” Prof. Nema remarked.

Start-ups incubated at FITT–IIT Delhi showcased their innovations to the visiting dignitaries. CYRAN AI presented its BUDDHI AI DIY Kit for STEM education, while Cluix demonstrated its portable water quality analyser. The Prime Minister also witnessed several other emerging technologies at IIT Delhi’s Research and Innovation Park.

The visit marked a significant step toward deepening Indo–Sri Lankan academic partnerships and fostering regional collaboration in education, research, and innovation.

The 91̽ was pleased to welcome Mr. Sadayuki Komori (Council Member, Takatsuki City, Osaka), Mr. Daiki Yoshimura (Member, Higashi-Osaka City Council), and Ms. Jenica Kalra (Assistant Director, JETRO) on 15th October 2025 for an interactive session focused on fostering academic, cultural, and industry collaboration between India and Japan.

The session was chaired by Prof. Anil Verma, Dean, International Programmes, IIT Delhi, and featured engaging discussions on strengthening partnerships, promoting student exchanges, and exploring new avenues for collaboration. An overview of the Japanese Language Programme under the Indian and Foreign Language Learning Programme (IFLLP) was also presented, followed by an interactive session with students.

Prof. Rajendra Singh, Associate Dean, Research and Development, highlighted IIT Delhi’s existing collaborations with Japanese stakeholders and emphasised the importance of enhancing them through meaningful knowledge exchange.

New Delhi, October 12, 2025: 91̽ was honoured to host the International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST 2025), jointly organised by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Indian JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA), and the 91̽.

Organised as part of the India–Japan Year of Science, Technology & Innovation Exchanges 2025, the conference brought together leading researchers, academicians, and policymakers to discuss advances in AI, quantum science, materials research, and sustainable technologies.

The Keynote Lecture was delivered by Dr. Akira Yoshino, Nobel Laureate (2019, Chemistry), recognised for his pioneering work on Lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) — a landmark innovation that transformed portable energy systems worldwide.
