Overview
As part of its partnership with the New Zealand Centre in Delhi, Tech Mahindra is offering four paid internship opportunities at its Makers Lab in Pune, India. These internships are designed to foster creativity, innovation, and exposure to new-age technologies, including Generative AI, AI Agents, Edge AI, AGI, and Quantum Machine Learning & Security.
About the New Zealand Centre (NZC) at IIT Delhi
The New Zealand Centre is a first-of-its-kind joint initiative by the eight New Zealand universities and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi. The eight universities of New Zealand feature in the top 3% worldwide according to the QS World. IIT Delhi is one of the top technology institutes in India and holds the special status of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Government of India. The purpose of the Centre is to promote relationships of understanding and cooperation across diverse fields of academic and other sector engagement in New Zealand.
The Centre:
- Promotes joint research projects among IIT Delhi and New Zealand universities in thematic areas of research important for both countries.
- Provides a forum for India-New Zealand dialogue among different sectors (government, academia, and business) in education, cultural exchange and cooperation, economic transformation, innovation and national growth strategies, and other topics of mutual interest.
- Undertakes special projects to enhance New Zealand-India understanding and cooperation in research, teaching, publication, patents, and start-up ventures.

Internship Format
Tech M has offered four paid internship positions for PhD students. One spot is reserved for applicants from IIT Delhi . Selected interns will travel to Pune, India and be based at Tech Mahindra Makers Lab for up to six (6) weeks. During this period, they will gain hands-on experience and mentorship in an immersive innovative environment. By the end of the six-week period, interns are expected to have developed and contributed to a project on the data provided to them.

Eligibility
This internship is open to PhD students at New Zealand’s eight universities and IIT Delhi, undertaking disciplines such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Design, or other related fields.
Stipend Details
Each Makers Lab Intern will receive a stipend of US$4,000¹ for the 6-week internship to support the cost of travel (Domestic/International) and accommodation for the duration of the programme in Pune. As part of the application, applicants must submit a single PDF document that includes both their CV & a brief statement of motivation outlining their specific area of interest
While filling in the application, all applicants have to submit a No Objection Certificate (NoC) from their respective universities.
The final four interns finalised for the programme will be signing a TechM code of conduct at the time of onboarding as part of the organisational procedural practice.

Selection Process
- Tech Mahindra will review all applications and shortlist candidates based on the information as part of the application.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an interview with a selection panel comprising representatives from Tech Mahindra, IIT Delhi & New Zealand Centre.
- Selection will be based on the applicant’s academic background, demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, relevant skills and experience, motivation for participating in the programme, and potential to contribute to the Makers Lab project environment.
- The final selection of four interns will be made following the interview process, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome.
